Almost all the problems you talk about are probably not hardware related but
software related. In other words there is probably nothing wrong with your
computer.
But these days viruses, spyware, malware, trojans and
other malicious software can bring down any system down to a crawl.
With a new pc or installation the first thing you do is get all the windows
patch ASAP If possible get all patches and burn them to cd/dvd before you
(re)install windows.
This file contains all patches upto augustus 2005 and comes in a easy to use
package.
Install this before even connecting to the Internet and that means remove the
network cable if your on adsl or cable or in a network!
After that you still need to run the windows auto update.
If you're thinking I am making a big fuss over nothing important, you are
wrong... Test have shown that a unprotected Windows XP with SP2 can be affected
within 4 minutes just by being connected! So it would also be a good idea to
download/buy a good anti-virus package and a firewall. If you decide to download
them it would be a good idea to also burn these with the windows patches so you
can install it before you connect to the Internet.
Also I highly recommend you use a alternate browser such as Firefox or Opera I know both browsers look and feel a bit
different but they are much better at stopping those annoying pop-ups and keep a
lot of spyware out.
Also most important of all while on the Internet USE COMMON SENSE don't be to
click happy and just click everything that says "FREE PORN" or
"install annoying software click yes".
Basically surfing the web can be as dangers to your health as driving a car
without a license and any driving experience. As those bad programs get on your
computer they will steal a lot of personal data think about credit card or
banking info or personal info that can be used for identity theft.
Collecting and using personal data to either base advertisement on or for other
malicious things is big business these days I know it all can seem a bit
paranoid but sadly its reality.
I love all sorts of electronic music everything from dance to hardcore depending
on my mood I also like most other music styles.
